Educating Lebanon's Out-of-School Refugee Children
In Beirut's poorest districts, thousands of Syrian refugee children have no access to formal education — excluded by policy, cost, and capacity. Noor Academy exists to close that gap: a structured, year-round school delivering multilingual instruction to children ages 5–14, including a dedicated intake track for older learners with no prior schooling
And, Noor Academy is more than a school. For children who have known little but displacement and uncertainty, it is a place where learning happens — and where belonging does too. Every child who walks through the door finds a structured classroom, a consistent teacher, and a community that expects them to grow.
Education
Structured curriculum for children aged 5–14, with Arabic and English instruction. Two half-day cohorts serve 200+ students simultaneously, with a midday program for older children new to the classroom.
Stability
Year-round operation provides consistent, safe structure to children navigating the pressures of displacement and economic hardship. The Academy closes only in August — giving children 11 months of reliable access to learning.
Community
Our supportive staff relationships with student families contributes to building a community. Additionally, emergency aid — food boxes, hygiene supplies, and direct living expense grants — extends our reach to enrolled students' families and the broader community.
