What a School Year Looks Like

In the 2024–2025 school year, enrollment at Noor Academy increased 38% over the prior year. By July 2025, 180 students had completed the full academic year — and 100 of them passed their final grade-level exams and advanced to the next grade.

In the fall of 2025, 225 students enrolled for the 2025-2026 school year, with additional families on a waiting list. Cross-border flight and repatriation to Syrian driven by intense bombardment, led to a reduction in class size. That said, at the end of the 2026 school year 78% of students passed the final test exam in their grade.

These numbers represent something harder to count: the discipline of showing up, day after day, in a city where drones pass overhead and families wonder if they will still have a home next week. The children of Noor Academy show up anyway.

Beyond the Classroom

Education is the core of what we do, but the impact of Noor El-Salam reaches further. When families across religious and cultural lines send their children to the same school, something quietly powerful happens. The Academy becomes a place where differences are set aside and shared humanity is the lesson.

When conflict in 2024 and 2026 forced mass displacement across Lebanon, Noor El-Salam mobilized quickly. Working through our trusted partner Amel Association International, we distributed emergency food, hygiene supplies, and blankets to 130 families, and provided 170 food boxes and supply vouchers to people sheltering in streets and schools. Nearly 10,000 displaced people received health care services through mobile medical clinics we helped fund.

Opening Doors

In 2025, Noor launched the Opening Doors Through Scholarships program — funding continuing education for high-achieving and financially needy students who would otherwise age out of the Academy with nowhere to go. Lebanon needs educated young people. These scholarships for students are an investment in that future.

One of our first scholarship recipients is Angelina, a 12-year-old sixth-grader adopted by elderly parents living on a $400-per-month pension. Despite her family's circumstances, she earned a 17 out of 20 grade average at her Beirut school — and a Noor El-Salam scholarship is helping make sure financial hardship doesn't stand between her and the education she has clearly earned

Looking Ahead

Our plans for 2026 reflect what we have learned from four years on the ground: children who have lived through war need more than academics. They need music, counseling, and stability. We are working toward:

• A music program for students at the Academy

• A part-time social worker to help students process the trauma of refugee life

• School accreditation through the Lebanese Ministry of Education

• Deeper partnerships with like-minded NGOs in Lebanon to maximize our reach
