Our Mission

Noor El-Salam is an organization which seeks to educate refugee children in Lebanon who are not allowed to obtain an education within the country, and to provide humanitarian relief to Lebanese communities suffering from lack of electricity, food, and clean water. Noor El-Salam is organized exclusively for charitable, literary, and educational purposes.

Vision

We provide education opportunities for marginalized populations within Lebanon and provide humanitarian relief to Lebanese communities who are impoverished and lacking essentials.

We Believe in Transparency

At Noor El-Salam Academy, every dollar you donate makes a direct impact. With an annual operating budget of under $40,000, it costs just $150 to provide education and support for one student for an entire year. Our nonprofit prides itself on efficiency—no salaries or travel expenses are paid from donations, and overhead costs are limited to minimal administrative expenses, totaling less than 6% of contributions.

Oversight is rigorous and transparent, with monthly board meetings involving our lead teacher and bi-annual visits from our founder and president, Amine Tarhini. Donors passionate about our mission are welcome to join us on one of these visits to see firsthand the transformative work being done in Lebanon. For more information about upcoming opportunities to visit the Academy, please contact us. Your generosity fuels education and hope for children in need—thank you for being part of this vital mission.

Opening Doors at Noor Academy and Beyond

Education doesn’t end at primary school—and neither does our commitment. Noor El-Salam scholarships support students as they pursue high school diplomas, vocational training, or certification exams. By investing beyond the classroom, we help students build stable, hopeful futures for themselves and their families.

Angelina

I am a young girl that was adopted since birth by my current parents. I love school and am currently enrolled in the 6th grade.

My dad is 70 years old, and my mom is 68 years old, they have limited income earned from my mom’s pension of $400 per month.

My overall school grade from last school year was 17 out of 20 points system.

My school director permitted me to enroll with a promise for my parents to pay the annual tuition of $2050.

Christa and Elio

My name is Elio and my sister is Christa. We are currently enrolled in the 10th grade and 4th grade.

Our dad is unemployed and occasionally gets daily contract work. Our mom was a teacher at the school where we are registered. About 4 years ago, our mom was diagnosed with a rare cancer in the bones and skull. She has been fighting the disease ever since and had to resign from the teaching job. The school administration has been helpful in allowing me and my sister to continue our education at a discounted fee.

My parents have spent their lifetime savings of $48,000 on medical treatments for my mom and have exhausted all their means. This year, my mom has started receiving an experimental treatment covered by the hospital and the government.
